The RCIA is a year-round process of informing about and welcoming adults into the Catholic Church. RCIA is for adults who want to find out more about the Catholic Church without obligation or pressure. It is also for people who are seeking baptism in the Catholic Christian Church and for Christians from other faith traditions that seek full communion with the Catholic Church. RCIA includes the study of Scripture, Catholic Christian teaching, and Christian values for the development and deepening of the life of prayer and action. It occurs with the support and involvement of the parish community. RCIA is more than a course of instruction. It is a five-step process of conversion designed to meet the unique needs of the individual participants. (For children seven or older that have not been baptized, please refer to “Christian Initiation for Children”.)

How to Participate:

RCIA sessions meet on Sunday mornings year-round. The time commitment ranges from six months to one year. If you are interested in participating in the RCIA program, contact Geri Hanley for more information. Here are other ways to get involved:

Sponsors are confirmed Catholics who are willing to serve as a host and friend to someone who is interested in becoming a Catholic. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, request an interview with Geri Hanley. If sponsorship is a good fit for you, she will match you up with someone with common interests. Training and support are provided. This is a wonderful way to share your faith!

Prayer Partners provide prayer support which is vital to the entire RCIA process. Parishioners pray for the RCIA participants, especially during Lent. If you are interested in being a prayer partner for a specific candidate, please contact Geri Hanley.

Christian Initiation for Children (CIC)

We offer the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (also known as RCIA adapted for Children) for children ages 7 and older that have not been baptized. CIC is an exploration of the Catholic faith geared for children. The process is similar to the Adult RCIA journey. Children and their families gather once a month at the Parish Center to share and learn about our Catholic faith and share Scripture and prayer. We also invite them to join with the parish community throughout the year for rituals and celebrations which are an important part of their preparations.

How to Participate:

Parish staff leads the sessions. You can help.

Mentor Families serve as hosts and friends through the process. Mentors are companions on the journey. Mentors should enjoy working with children and young adults and actively involved in parish life. As a Mentor, you will attend RCIA sessions with parents and children and be available to answer their questions. Mentors also support the candidates during prayer rituals which occur throughout the year. Training and support are provided.

Prayer Partners provide prayer support which is vital to the entire RCIC process. Parishioners pray for the RCIC participants, especially during Lent. If you are interested in being a prayer partner for a specific candidate, please contact Geri Hanley.
