The First Communion and First Reconciliation process begins with registration in September and ends with First Communion Celebration in May. Please see the calendar for the dates of classes and celebrations.

We offer Sacramental Preparation for families and children, seven and up, preparing for First Reconciliation and First Holy Eucharist. Families and children preparing for the sacraments must be enrolled in Faith Formation at St. Louise or our school program and must attend six Saturday morning sessions scheduled  October through April.

How to Serve:

Help our children to celebrate the sacraments of First Eucharist and First Reconciliation by preparing them for these special times. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • As a Session leader, you are asked to share your faith with the children guided by prepared lesson outlines. You commit to reviewing the outline, conducting the session, overseeing the volunteers and straightening up afterwards.
  • Student volunteers from junior and senior High School assist the session leaders, help with the crafts station, and manage the snack station.
  • Project/craft assistants prepare materials outside of the sessions for use during the sessions. We provide instructions and materials for hands-on projects. Project/craft assistants assemble craft materials, cut out forms, and generally set up projects prior to the sessions.
  • Faith Formation administrative volunteers work with Geri Hanley on supporting activities from office tasks to setting up the snack station and helping at administrative tasks at the sessions.

All are welcome to be a part of our Sacramental Preparation sessions. You can become a volunteer by interviewing with the program director. Teachers and adult teaching assistants must undergo a voluntary background check and participate in Safe Environment Training.
