Hearts and Hammers Annual Community Assistance Project
See Hearts & Hammers Webpages for more Details: https://lakehillsheartsandhammers.org
Description: Hearts & Hammers is a one-day work blitz by volunteers from 6 Lake Hills area congregations (St. Louise, Church of the Resurrection, Temple B’nai Torah, Cross of Christ, multiple wards of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Islamic Center of Eastside) as well as a number of local corporate volunteer groups, who join together to repair and rehabilitate homes in the area for those physically or financially unable to do so. Everyone from 9-90 is welcome to join. Youth teams from all the congregations also participate. There are no meetings, just sign up and volunteer your labor (or other talents) on the appointed day!
It is one of the oldest continuing community projects in the Lake Hills area, started in 1996.
When: Annually, usually a Saturday in mid-May. (Events in 2020 and 2021 were canceled due to Covid.)
Events are publicized via the various congregational news sources, by email to previous years’ participants, and sometimes local news outlets. To obtain information or volunteer, in early April please check the Hearts & Hammers website, check any of the congregational websites or contact an administration office of one of the participating congregations.
